Visit of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways to South Central Railway


The Parliamentary Standing Committee o­n Railways made a visit to Secunderabad today ie, 12th Feb. 2013 under the Chairmanship of Shri Nandi Yellaiah, Hon’ble MP and in-charge Chairman of the Committee. The other Members of the committee who visited Secunderabad include Hon'ble MPs- Shri Bhaskar Rao Patil Khatgonkar, Shri Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Shri Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, Smt. Satabdi Roy, Dr. Vivekanand, Shri Hussain Dalwai and Shri Ambeth Rajan.The Committee held informal discussions with Shri A.K. Mital, General Manager, South Central Railway o­n the subject of “Major Railway Accidents during the last five years-Causes and Remedial Measures". The General Manager appraised the members of the Committee o­n the analysis of train accidents o­n SCR during the last five years and also explained the various measures taken / being implemented to prevent accidents.Earlier in the day, the Committee Members visited various Shop floors in the Carriage & Wagon Workshop, South Lallaguda, Secunderabad and interacted with the employees and representatives of Trade Unions. The General Manager, SCR appraised the visiting members of theperformance, activities and the improvements made in coach maintenance practices in this Workshop.
