DMRC and DTTDC sign MOU for Facilitating Tourists & Tourism In Delhi

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the purpose of jointly promoting tourism and facilitating tourists in the capital city.

The MoU was signed at Metro Bhawan by DMRC’s Director (Operations), Sh. Sharat Sharma and DTTDC’s MD & CEO Shri G G Saxena in the presence of DMRC’s Managing Director, Sh. Mangu Singh and a host of other dignitaries.

As per the MoU, DMRC and DTTDC will help and facilitate each other for tourist friendly information and promotion of tourism in the city through their services. As a part of this MoU, DMRC will undertake following initiatives:

1. DMRC will identify spaces/locations at 5 Metro Stations for opening up DTTDC information counters. Dwarka Metro Station has been identified as the station to start with the project.

2. DMRC will publicize the products and projects of DTTDC through banners / standees. For this, DMRC will identify spaces / locations at prominent metro stations including Metro Museum at Patel Chowk Metro Station, based on operational feasibility. Display of publicity material on the advertisement panels inside the Metro Trains will be permitted subject to availability.

3. In order to help the people to know the latest information regarding both the corporations, DMRC will arrange to link its website www.delhimetrorail.com with that of DTTDC.

4. With a view to prevent the tourists from being overcharged by the auto drivers and as an added passenger convenience, the concept of `rent a bicycle’ will be explored for implementation at Saket Metro Station. People visiting major tourist attractions i.e. Qutub Minar, Garden of Five Senses (GFS) and Qutub Complex which are near to Saket Metro Station, will be benefitted. People can rent a bicycle at nominal rate with ID to visit these places and could also make use of the cycle track developed in GFS.

5. DMRC will arrange to make announcement in the Metro Trains, informing the commuters about the important events being organized by DTTDC in Delhi such as Dilli Ke Pakwan, Kite Festival, Mango Festival, Garden Festival, Itra Festival etc.

6. DMRC will facilitate tourists on Saturday and Sundays by providing seats etc. DTTDC may operate their transport services to help in this regard.

Similarly, DTTDC will assist DMRC by working on following initiatives:
1. DTTDC will arrange to provide safekeeping and distribution of DMRC’s publicity materials, pamphlets, route maps, etc. from its information counters for the information of tourists.

2. In order to help the people to know the latest information regarding both the corporations, DTTDC will arrange to link its website www.delhitourism.gov.in with that of DMRC.

3. To facilitate metro commuters, DTTDC will sell the Delhi Metro Tourist Smart Cards of One & Three days validity as well as Delhi Metro Travel Smart Cards through its outlets. DTTDC shall provide space at its sites to DMRC to set up stalls/kiosks during fairs/festivals organized by DTTDC such as Mango Festival, Garden Festival, Kite Festival, Itra Festival etc.

4. DTTDC participates in various National Events where the officials distribute literature on Delhi and publicize various package tours operated by the Tourism Division. DTTDC shall arrange for participation by DMRC in these national events for publicizing DMRC projects and its products.

Delhi Metro at present runs its services on seven Lines spanning around 190 kilometers. All prominent tourist attractions of Delhi like Qutab Minar, Jama Masjid, Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, fall on its different routes. National and international tourists can explore the city’s tourist destinations in a hassle free manner by using Metro services through Tourist Smart Card of one Day (Rs. 100/) and three days (Rs. 250/- ) validity, in which one can make unlimited rides for the given day(s).
