Hon’ble Minister of Railways to Lay Foundation Stone for Rail Bridge Across Bennithora River on Bidar-Gulbarga New Railway Line

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon’ble Minister of Railways will lay  foundation stone for a Rail Bridge across Bennithora River o­n Bidar-Gulbarga new Railway line at 02 00 pm. o­n 23rd July, 2013 at a function to be held at Community Hall, Mahagaon, Gulbarga.

Hon’ble Public representatives, dignitaries and senior railway official will be present o­n the occasion.

Salient features of the Railway Bridge Bennithora River as part of Bidar-Gulbarga New BG Railway Line Project

The catchment area of the river is 2110 Sq Km
Total Utilization of water is 5.75 TMC
Length of stream 109.5 Km with Right bank canal 82Km length, Irrigable area 13435Ha
Left bank canal 60Km length, irrigable area 6779Ha
Benefitted Taluks – Sedam & Chittapur
The new Bennithora River Rail Bridge is crossing the Bennithora River at about 2.00Km UP stream side of existing Road Bridge at Kurkotta Village
The new Benithora River Rail Bridge is proposed at Km 76.560 in Bidar-Gulbarga New BG Railway Line Project between Kurkotta–Nawadgi Stations as 1X17.15M+14X18.0M+1X17.15M PSC Girders .
Foundation is predominantly with Well foundations and Superstructure with PSC Girders
(2 Girder System) with Deck Slab
The estimated cost for the construction of Rail Bridge is Rs. 12.60 Crores
The Bridge will have 16 spans, each with a length of 18.3 metres, spread over a total distance of 286 metres
The targeted completion period is 18 months

Salient features of the Bidar-Gulbarga New BG Railway Line Project

New BG line project was sanctioned in 1998-99 with an estimated cost of 369.70 Crores
Total length of Railway track is 110.40 Km between Khanapur-Gulbarga Stations
60 Km track has been linked/engine rolled by March, 2013
The revised cost of the project is Rs. 792 Crores
Total expenditure as o­n June, 2013 is Rs. 383 Crores
Total Land requirement: 768.57 hecatre
No. of New Railway Stations:12 Nos (7-Crossing, 5-Halt Stations)
No. of  Total Bridges – 256 Nos
No. of Major water way Bridges – 12
No. of Major Road Over Bridges/Road Under Bridges (ROBs/RUBs) for road traffic – 18
