Eastern Railway is all set with elaborate security arrangements for ensuing festivals to tackle heavy rush of passengers in Railway premises, trains and Railway stations. The basic objectives of the security arrangements are to regulate passenger traffic in stations and to prevent crime, guide and assist tourist passengers particularly in late hours, ensure safety & security of passengers, especially women & children during late hours in the Railway premises and trains and to adopt precautionary measure against violent and subversive activities to ensure communal peace & harmony.
In view of the above objectives, additional RPF personnel will be mobilised at platforms, foot-overbridges of important and sensitive Railway stations for regulating passenger traffic. Special attention will be paid to Railway stations like Howrah, Barddhaman, Rampurhat, Sealdah, Dakshineswar, Durgapur, Asansol, Malda among others. Special escort will be provided in Mail/Express/Special trains. Proper announcement regarding Puja special trains will be made to avoid any confusion among passengers. Officers and staff of Security department will be extra vigilant at all entry & exit points and will make random checks in trains and platforms etc.
A vigorous drive will be launched against illicit liquor, inflammable articles, fire crackers etc. during the Puja session in trains & Railway premises. Action against pickpocketing, theft of passenger belongings and menace of drugging will be stepped up. CCTV monitoring by skilled staff and officers will be made from time to time. Anti-sabotage check and checking of luggage etc., with metal detectors will continue.
Eastern Railway will make maximum utilization of sniffer dog squads for checking at the important stations, passenger areas and in trains.
Frequent announcements will be made in all stations advising public not to touch any unclaimed or unidentified or suspicious objects. Lastly, to facilitate safe, secure and hassle free journey for lady passengers, security arrangements in ladies’ compartments will be augmented to avoid any untoward incidents.
