Palani-Pollachi line may be opened in two months

The rail traffic between Palani and Pollachi would be started in two months, said Rakesh Misra, General Manager, Southern Railway.He told presspersons here on Tuesday that most of the broad gauge conversion work on that section had been completed. The officials’ concerned had been asked to expedite the pending works as quickly as possible. Steps to resume rail traffic had been initiated. Soon after the resumption of rail traffic on that section, the work between Pollachi and Palakkad would be taken up.Mr. Misra said he was on an annual inspection to test the functioning of the system, passenger amenities, construction activities and development activities. He had visited various stations in Palakkad and Salem Railway Divisions for two days.Later, accompanied by the Commissioner of Railway Safety S.K. Mittal, he inspected railway stations in Karur, Kulithalai and Mayanur.
